I just finished reading the Revolution and the Fox this morning, after a few nights up late and not able to put it down. It’s been awhile since I got through a book so quickly. I had absolutely no idea where things we going with this fourth (and final) installment, and I was completely surprised and satisfied by where things ended. Susman does a fantastic job of tying up loose ends from not only this book, but the entire series, in a way that is satisfying but never feels like a cop-out; nothing feels too “easy” for the characters to accomplish, and even when the protagonists are successful, things are never completely perfect and happy for everyone involved, just like real life. I can’t recommend this entire series enough–in face, I’ve read each of the first three books twice, because the world Susman creates is so fun to spend time in–and it has so many elements that I enjoy reading about: grief, guilt, betrayal, mystery; a unique magical structure; subtle and drawn-out romance; and a group of friends that feels as iconic to me as Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Give this series the attention that it deserves!
